VLADIVOSTOK, Russia, Aug. 1 -- On the morning of July 31, 2025, a taskforce assigned to the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), composed of guided-missile destroyer Shaoxing (Hull 134), guided-missile destroyer Urumqi (Hull 118), comprehensive supply ship Qiandaohu (Hull 886) and submarine rescue ship Xihu (Hull 841), arrived at a military port in Vladivostok, Russia.
At the welcoming ceremony, the Russian military band played the national anthems of China and Russia, and chief commanding officers of the two sides addressed the ceremony. The chief director of the Russian side said that the deepening and expanding of the joint exercises and training between China and Russia will continue to promote mutual trust and consolidate friendship of the two sides.
The chief director of the Chinese side stated that the China-Russia Joint Sea series of exercises, having been held for more than ten years, represents an important manifestation of the deepening of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for the new era, as well as a solid practice of jointly safeguarding international fairness and justice and maintaining regional peace and stability. The Chinese PLA Navy is willing to join its Russian counterpart to uphold the responsibility and commitment of major countries and make greater contributions to jointly building a community with a shared future for humanity and a maritime community with a shared future.
It is learned that the China-Russia Exercise Joint Sea 2025 has entered the joint planning stage since July 30, 2025. During this stage, the two sides will hold specialized discussions and get prepared for the forthcoming drills on maritime subjects.
